Gypsy Collabo is an entirely unique experience rooted in the possibilities that come with an open mind and a desire to experiment. A completely live group, they maintain an aesthetic that allows them to have a modern pop appeal while backing it with the knowledge and chops of an old school band. All five members produce and write, and three are multi-instrumentalists. Their collective diversity creates a palette rich in depth, and allows them to seamlessly fuse elements that might not traditionally seem to mix into a catchy, cohesive brand of music all their own.

The group formed in 2002 when through a mutual friend, aspiring rock band  Tipsy Gypsys met the up and coming hip hop collective Collabo. The two groups instantly hit if off and in no time were making music together. Soon after under their new moniker, Gypsy Collabo, they released their first full length album, "Live In Five". Pleased by the overwhelming local response, the group decided it was time to take the next step in their careers and relocated to California. There they studied , drums, guitar, recording, singing, and business at the Musicians Institute in the heart of Hollywood. Members of the group also enrolled in the UCLA Extension Film Scoring Program, where they studied classical orchestration and received private instruction from composer Dr. Norman Ludwin. The band honed their skills playing in clubs like the legendary B.B. Kings in Universal City, and recording with artists from all over the world. Individuals in the group also interned for the former COO of Clear Channel, Steve Smith, at his company ANR Worldwide, and also for Sat Bisla's radio show "Passport Approved" formerly on Indie 103.1.
After nearly three years the group decided it was time to return to their roots, and in late 2006 made the move back to Springfield. They reconnected with Tipsy Gypsy's original bassist, who had just graduated from Columbia College in Chicago, where he studied guitar, recording and business.  Picking their studies up where they left off, they continued their training under local theory professor and jazz pianist, Jane Hartman. They proceeded to drop the mixtape "The Family Tree" and began touring the Midwest, opening for acts like Twista, Chingy, and Crucial Conflict along the way. The band also opened their own recording studio and rehearsal space, that has come to double as a a haven for local artists, where they write, record, and produce all their own material.

The band is currently continuing to manage all their own affairs and focusing on building strategic partnerships with like minded professionals within the industry.
